Originally from Fredericton, New Brunswick, Chad travelled to China in 2004 after completing his photography studies at the New Brunswick College of Craft & Design. He spent his first two years in China teaching English in rural Hebei, studying Chinese, and seeing as much of China as he could. He moved to Shanghai in 2006 and quickly picked up work as a portrait photographer.
Chad is known for his creative portraiture utilizing his subjects environment. He strives to make each portrait unique, carefully researching all his subjects before each shoot. His casual demeanour puts his subjects at ease whether they are celebrities, heads of industry, or someone on the street.
He has photographed Jack Ma for the cover of Forbes, Yao Ming for The Wall Street Journal and has also shot for Fast Company, Der Spiegel, Inked, Business Week, Newsweek, Fortune and other international publications. In 2008 & 2009 he traveled to Sichuan to document the effects of the earthquake and its aftermath on the region and people. In 2010 he completed a series entitled "Women at Home" in which he photographed women in their homes in Shanghai, Shenyang, and Chongqing. That year, he also filmed the guinness world record setting motorcycle trip around China by brothers Colin and Ryan Pyle. Read more at MKRide.com.
